What data is collected

During active work sessions only, the extension collects:

• •File upload metadata: Service name, filename, file size, and upload URL (with sensitive parameters removed). No file content is ever accessed.
• •Download metadata: Filename, file size, source URL, and MIME type.
• •Page visits: URL, domain, and page title for sites visited.
• •Tab focus events: Which tab is active, for time-on-site calculations.

What is NOT collected

• •Page content, text, or screenshots
• •Form data, passwords, or authentication tokens
• •Keystrokes or mouse movements
• •File contents (only metadata like name and size)
• •Activity on banking, financial, health, or medical sites (excluded by default)
• •Any activity outside of active work sessions

Where your data goes

All data stays on your computer.

The extension communicates exclusively with the FlowMetrics Pro desktop application running on your local machine (localhost/127.0.0.1) via WebSocket.

• •No data is sent to external servers
• •No cloud storage or remote databases
• •No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting services

Local data storage

The extension uses Chrome's local storage API to persist:

• •Event queue: Temporarily stores events when the desktop app is not running. Events are cleared after successful delivery.
• •Daily statistics: Upload, download, and site visit counts for the current day.
• •Configuration: Your tracking preferences and excluded domains.

Why we need each permission

downloads

Track file download events (start, progress, completion).

webRequest + host permissions

Detect file uploads by inspecting outgoing HTTP request patterns across 130+ cloud services. No request content is read.

webNavigation

Track page navigation events for site visit counting (main frame only, no iframes).

tabs + activeTab

Get the URL and title of the active tab for site visit context and focus tracking.

storage

Persist extension configuration, event queue, and daily statistics locally.

alarms

Keep the service worker alive to maintain the WebSocket connection with the desktop app.

Third parties

No data is shared with any third party. The extension contains no analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or telemetry services. The only external resources loaded are Google Fonts for UI rendering.
